I wear an XL in TB Ashby tops and they fit just right. So I ordered an XL in this linen dress and it was HUGE thru the bust and with giant armholes too. So I traded for a L and it’s almost snug in bust and armholes! It must be 4+ inches different in size!! Still fits, and I really like the coral color, but wish it was in between sizes. Sigh. Also wish it was a bit longer to be a true “midi” length — which is my favorite at 5’6″. But it’s okay. Very summery and quite comfortable. I won’t use the belt. It drapes nicely without and is flattering that way. Wish for more bright colors!!

So I traded it for a size L and it’s slightly too snug in the bust. So, those of you on or near the size edge, like I am (41″ bust) are going to have a hard time finding a good fit. If you’re definitely in one size or the other, this dress is quite attractive, versatile, comfortable and very summery. Too bad too bad too bad. I can’t wear either size. See my previous review for more info.

Very nice dress. Sturdy and light material! Very comfortable!

For my taste, it could be more of an optic white. It’s teetering onto a snow or eggshell.
The lining is welcome.
I don’t like it belted – it’s just too bunchy and baggy and full for that to look right. On me, anyway.
Fit – for me, TB is a tough fit, as they seem to proportion for shorter ladies with large busts. I’m tall and broad-shouldered. Unlarge bust.
If it’s a short dress, I always size up and take in side seams so I get all the length I can and to minimize looking like I’m wearing a babydoll dress.
This has what is likely a common issue – the back armholes are generously cut, armhole depth overall is good, but the front armhole is cut quite shallow. Almost like the area from middle chest to armhole is too wide, or armpit-armpit too tight? I don’t know the proper terms. I’ll try to show in photos. Apologies for slouching to get a back view.
Anyway, with this one, no need to size up for me. It’s just a snug fit in the front armhole. You know – it limits ROM like if you simply wash your hands. That spot. And there’s a muscle right there that kinda rubs fabric every time it’s engaged. I tried to point to tight spot in front photo. And I think the contrast between back and front is just apparent when seeing both front and back. Hope that makes sense. It’s not the bust, which is plenty big. It’s above the bustline. Why do we get so much room in back armhole but not front? Im all for covering a bra strap, but this is something else.
Does anyone else have this same fit issue?
That being said, I often need a knee brace, and I’m happy for anything that somewhat covers that.
Obviously a lined dress won’t be as airy as unlined, but since it’s sleeveless, it’s as versatile as a lined dress can be.
The collar is also a bit wimpy, a wider collar would be more proportional. Esp if one isn’t 5’2”.
But I have dysautonomia and natural fabrics are a must, so I live in linen and take function over flair.

Nice classic shirt dress. Overall, I really like it. The collar could be a little bigger, but smallish collars seen to be a “thing” for the last couple years. I have this in black and love it. The white is nice and it is lined, but unfortunately it was cut a bit slimmer in the hip and did not work for me.

Blue fabric felt diff than white. Almost scratchy. It’s just unflattering. The bottom half is wide compared to the top, so it doesn’t hang nicely either belted or unbelted. Top can’t be any smaller, yet hips are too bunchy and wide. Would look sporty and cute if it were straight.
The armholes aren’t cut-in enough in front, either visually or functionally. Go ahead and cover a bra strap. I don’t need a dolman wanna-be. It’s just weird. Especially with that thin collar. Thin collar yet wide from collarbone to edge of sleeve. What do you call that place?
Maybe washing multiple times will soften? I wouldn’t dare dry it…..
I get so tired of frumpy proportions and silhouettes. Why can’t we just get a straight dress? Or a cocoon? Why always A-line?!? Anyway……. It’s linen, and I nearly live in linen. But this is unattractive. And the length is sorta below the knee, not quite midi. Unless you are maybe 5’3”, which sorta brings me back to the issues with TB fit model, cause I think that’s who they cut for, and the only proportion they cut for.

Linen is on the heavier side. This type of linen shows pronounced crease type wrinkles vs. overall soft crumpled wrinkles. It’s not a breezy type linen fabric. Cut of the dress is generous in shape of a tent. Styling with a belt made it less even attractive because the fabric bunched up. Overall, a frumpy look.

I needed a conservative summer dress for a work event. This dress hit the mark. It is a bit wide in the middle so I will belt it (I pleat the fabric on each side of the waist to avoid too much random gathering) and then fasten the belt. I wish the buttons didn’t say “Tommy Bahama” but it is fairly subtle so should still maintain that minimalist look I prefer. I am 5’3, 115 lbs and the XS size hits me mid calf.

I bought this thinking I’d probably have to return it but I am pleasantly surprised. I wear an 8 in dresses and have hips so the shirt dress style usually doesn’t work for me. This one, though, is a good fit. It’s a totally classic style that I think looks cute with a straw hat and sandals; I got the blue, which to me just looks so summery. Although made in China (not a fan of that) the linen feels high quality, not stiff, not too think, not too thin. Surprisingly, it looks nice both with the belt and without; I’ll have to experiment with belting it. It’s a perfect fit in the arms/shoulders (and my shoulders are on the wide side) and it’s roomy enough in the hips to feel comfortable (I got M) but it’s not so big that it feels completely shapeless. I might hem it; I’m 5’4″ and it feels a bit long, but I’ll wash it first and then decide. 100% linen always washes nicely and gets softer every time.
